Hey all,
Quick question to which I was unable to find an answer until now : is there a way to create a workspace that filters for a specific emoji?
Context: I like to use a star emoji (
) to mark certain items in my notes so that they stand out.
Problem: I created a workspace, but when entering said emoji into the ‘search query’ it is seemingly ignored, the filter does nothing and shows me my compete list of drafts.
So I’m a bit at a loss here? Is this intended behaviour, (un)known bug? Is there maybe another method to filter for emoji’s (like some descriptor invoking the emoji name (emoji:“nameofemoji”, or like here in the forums :nameofemoji:, that kind of thing)? Or plain not supported?
As I said, tried to look up what I could, but didn’t find anything helpful.
Thanks in advance for any help or insight someone of you might have
Emoji search should work fine…if you do the search by entering the search field, you get the results you want, correct?
In the case of a workspace, it just applies the options to the list – so if you put a value in the search for the workspace when the workspace is applied, that value should appear in the search field.
If you edited the workspace, did you re-apply it to update the values applied to the list?
I can see my search query from the workspace being applied to the search bar. But the result is my complete list of Drafts.
I tried searching with a different emoji (
)and that works. Yet this one
results in the complete list of Drafts appearing.
Ok, this is a bit of a tricky situation for that specific emoji. I’d have to think about how to work around it.
Technically, in Unicode, that asterisk emoji is composed of two characters, an asterisk being one of them…which is a special character in search, which means “find everything” (more or less).
I’ll put it on the list to look into identifying and handling that possibility more elegantly…but, for now, using a different character should solve your problem.
Hmm, sounds like me to find the exception. I’ll switch to some alternative symbols for now, no worries.
Thank you for looking into this, and thank you for your continued excellent work on Drafts.
Cheers!
