Spell Check not working iPad

I am unable to get the spell check to work on my ipad using an Apple Magic Keyboard. iPad Air 5 with IOS 18.3.1. Tried switching it off then on, reset the dictionary. Tried with and without Autocorrect.
I know this is probably a system setting but it works in Editorial, producing a red dotted line below the mis-spelled word.
Would appreciate advice and/or assistance.

Both “Check spelling” and “Autocorrect” are enabled in Drafts editor settings?

Try a reboot yet (power off-on)?

Both “Check Spelling” and “Autocorrect are enabled in Drafts editor settings.

After a reboot nothing changes. Spelling errors aren’t identified in Drafts but are in Editorial.

Apologies if this reply is duplicated, I am struggling with slow WiFi and a poor phone signal.

I installed Grammerly and while trying to load its keyboard without success something else changed so the Spell Check and Autocorrect started working in Drafts. With the keyboard minimised I now see a keyboard icon, a microphone icon and in between three autocorrect options - these weren’t there previously.
