Spell check disappears

When typing with the keyboard on ios and I misspell a word it underlines red as it should but if I minimize the keyboard all of the red underlines go away and don’t come back. Is there a setting in drafts to change this?

Spell check is a system level feature, and I don’t think any spell check information get maintained across editing sessions. Do you have any apps that do restore that state? I know Apple’s app do not (Notes, Mail)

Notability does keep the red underlines after keyboard is minimized. The mail app also keeps the red lines for me though, notes does not.
At least I know its not a setting in drafts.
