I have a long draft, and when I scroll about halfway into it and start typing, the screen jumps around. It’s really rather bothersome to me. This started a couple of releases ago and I was hoping would be fixed when I moved to iOS 26. No luck.
I’m up to about 3 reports of this behavior…but I have not idea how to reproduce it, which has made it really tricky to attempt to troubleshoot.
I’ve even reproduced exact texts and editor settings from one of the reports and can’t make it happen – so if anyone is seeing this, I’d love to know if you figure out something that is specific to your configuration that might be causing it – especially if you have a very specific case where you can reproduce it.
I can also see that, but it was just once and not reproducible. However, I can also notice the cursor to flicker while typing; it’s visible a few times a few lines further above the current line.
However, this is not happening all the time…
Hi, I have same jumping behaviour on iPad and iPhone even worse with iOS 26.1 update
EDIT - NB: changing syntax to plain text seems to stop the behaviour (so far). Any other markdown syntax seems to cause it.
Tried reduce animation settings - no help.
Appears to be random but seems to get worse with more editing - ie first using of return key = small screen jump, more uses = bigger and more frequent jumps until totally unusable!
Might also be worse with longer drafts.
At first jump seems to be triggered by typing return key, followed by another jump on typing the first character of the new line.
Over time - just the cursor wrapping to new line on the screen triggers a jump .
Typing period key, followed by space, can trigger jump on space, too.
Can be helped by using full screen app on iPad, but not iPhone.
I realise this is iOS issue, jut hoping this might be helpful ![]()
Experiencing same issue here. Interestingly, switching to typewriter scrolling seems to make things better, though there’s still some line jump.
Edit: getting the “cursor flickers up a few lines” that was mentioned earlier in thread, though there doesn’t seem to be a pattern with how many lines - between 2-8 I’ve seen so far. This has largely happened to me in Tasks based drafts, though that’s most of where my longer documents are so I can’t say if that’s triggering it.
I have the exact same situation. These are the exact conditions that cause the jumping around (& the worsening of it)
for me as well.
By the way, the forum seems to be telling me the last post by Felix was 3 years ago, however I see the date of the most recent post to be only a week ago. This may be a separate topic so apologies if it doesn’t belong here.
Hi Alex, I’m a long time Drafts user but don’t (need to) post much here! This issue is making my fave app which I use constantly, totally unusable - which is a disaster for me - so took to the forum!
Thanks for sharing that you are getting same issues.
Hope Apple or AT find a solution soon!
I think that “last post” msg is some kind of autogenerated forum msg:D
Wondering if it could be related to this issue I posted.
Suspect it’s an iOS 26 issue to me — timing seems right, anyway.
I have had odd text selection behaviour too - but comes and goes, so can’t see any pattern to it. iOS 26 really stuffed things up!
Hi again, just updating, this behaviour I reported in detail above is continuing after several iOS updates. It’s consistent and replicable with long drafts. Appears to occur with drafts around 700 word mark, in any syntax except plain text.
Similar jumping in a few other apps, but this is usually on starting to use a text field like this one in safari. whereas in Drafts as described earlier, it is escalates to every use of the Return key and then increasing to other keys as well, becoming impossible.
Realise this is ios but is extreme in Drafts and wondering if some way AT can contact Apple - there is zero ways for us to contact them! I am a very long time subscriber ![]()
Thanks!
Try putting applefeedback:// into your browser and you should get the option to feedback to Apple about any bugs.
Brilliant - thank you! Has no idea could do that!
