For some reason, I don’t seem to have a preview button. Isn’t it supposed to be along the bottom of the editor?

I have just 18.0, but I don’t have the button either. I hope they didn’t get rid of it.
Preview is available on iPad & Mac
Yes, the button is specific to accessing preview that open in another window, which is only possible on iPad and Mac. The same preview functionality is available via actions on iPhone. In a stock installation, you should have several example preview actions in your “Markdown” action group - or there are examples in the directory.
