Opening .draftsExport file does not launch import

I am trying to move content from one device to another, and have managed to open the .draftsExport file with Drafts (which I understand is an endeavour on its own), but am then offered to “Save as New Draft in” either the inbox or archive.

In other words, when the import dialogue should pop up and ingest the file, it does not.

This is Drafts 48.1 (647) on iOS 26.0.1 (23A355).

iOS changed Files app behavior so it doesn’t work like it used to…been meaning to look at a fix for that.

In the meantime, to import a .draftsExport file, start in Drafts, long press the “+” button and select “Import” - Drafts will properly recognize the file as a backup when you go that route.
