No Drafts Data In Mac Spotlight Search

I noticed today when I did a Spotlight search on my Mac for some text that an entry in Drafts didn’t show up. So I did some testing, and Spotlight isn’t working at all for Drafts. I opened Settings in Drafts, and “Index Drafts in Spotlight” was checked. So, thinking that I’d try to rebuild, I unchecked the box and quit. When I opened Drafts and went to Settings again, the “Index Drafts…” box was checked again. Spotlight search still was not working. Any help in what to try next would be appreciated!

I’m not aware of any issues with Spotlight, but put it on the list to do some testing. Can you reproduce the change to the setting not working? That seems odd. If you just change it, close the settings window and re-open it is the change saved?

Turning it off and on will reset the indexing process, but expect (depending on the size of your library) for it to take a little while for the re-indexing to occur and items to appear in search results.

Agreed, very odd!

Yes, if I change the setting, and close the settings window, the change sticks. But if I uncheck the box, quit, then re-open, it goes back to being checked. Every time.

In further testing, it seems like other settings in the Settings window aren’t being honored, e.g. if Drafts is not running, then I start it, it shows as running but does not show the main window, despite “Show main window at launch” being checked. And, just like the spotlight setting, I can uncheck it, quit, and it’ll be checked again when I start back up.
