New Action to Send Draft to Mark Text

Hey all. I’ve been using Drafts for a while but am having issues getting an action to work as I’d like. I feel like it’s quite simple, I’m just not getting it.

I commonly start writing something in Drafts. At some point, I want to save that to a Dropbox Folder that I save all my txt’s to, that’s easy.

The kicker for me is I have come to love using Mark Text when I want to beautify and polish up some writing. I can’t for the life of me get an action to do this.

Desired Action Synopsis (Mac)

  1. Save Drafts text to Dropbox Folder with syntax YYMMDD_{FIRST #}
  2. Open Saved .txt in Mark Text app (Mac)

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

I don’t see and URL scheme defined in the Github documentation.

Once the AppleScript support (Greg is currently working on this), I suspect you will be able to trigger opening the file using the MarkText command line interface (CLi).

In the meantime, if you have, for example, Keyboard Maestro, you could use that to trigger Drafts via URL, and then in a subsequent macro step, try the CLI approach. I suspect the same method could also be achieved using other tools such a AppleScript alone.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the effort. I’m relieved to hear it wasn’t super simple to accomplish.

Like most of these things, it would only be a convenience so – maybe someday.
