Howdy all!
I looked around in the docs, and on the forums, before creating an account and posting this; but didn’t find anything that seemed related… MeaCulpa if I’m suffering from blindness or shittysearchskillery
I will often find myself taking screenshots of certain parts of an operation, or a window for a litany of reasons…
one of the things I’ll often do is grab a screenshot of a thing, and, for lack of a better option, paste it into a new item in preview and then do something else with it.
I hate this “workflow”
I don’t see any mechanism for drafts to natively interact with image content in the pastebuffer
So… in an attempt to glean the best path forward, I’ll phrase this super open ended:
What do y’all do for your screenshot-parsing/mangling workflows?
First: (and forgive me if you’re already clear on this, but…) Drafts is all about text. Doesn’t really do images.
That said, it can display referenced images (e.g. Markdown image refs) in HTML previews. I have a few image actions cobbled together from other posts here in the forum. One of them saves images to the Drafts folder and inserts a reference for that image in the current draft. There’s also a Dropbox based variant of that action. Another action that previews images in the current draft. Another action that presents a masonry style gallery of images from drafts in the current workspace (clicking on an image opens the associated draft). Most of those are powered by a Shortcuts action to select the required image and/or place it in an appropriate folder for later reference.
Maybe one/some of those ways of working might spur your thinking towards a workflow that might improve on what you’re currently doing? The question becomes: what’s the range of “something else” that you do with an image you’ve stored in the paste buffer (aka clipboard?)? Or to put it another way: what kinds of things do you want to be able to do with your screenshots?
