Quick note after updated to macOS beta 5 today: Drafts does not launch. I can share the details if they are helpful.
Please do share them. Mostly with Apple. If they break shipping apps, it is their bug. I’d like to see chash reports at support@getdrafts.com to help submit reports to Apple.
Just chiming in to say I’m seeing the same issue on macOS 14.6 beta 5, Drafts won’t open at all. Let me know if any specific logs or steps would be helpful.
I’m so glad it’s not just me! I felt like I was wearing my shoes on the wrong feet or something when I hit ⌘+⇧+2 and nothing happened. Just emailed you the crash report—thanks for everything you do.
I came here for this. Report shared over email.
I sent my crash report as well, actually, I didn’t even realize that this wasn’t in the beta category. The latest TF beta won’t launch either, (I send the crash report from that).
Sent my crash report in as well. All was working fine until beta 5…
I found a workaround. Submitted a Mac build that avoids the crasher (which is deep in AppKit). Should be available later today once it passes TestFlight review.
Will this require using Drafts Beta? If so, how can I get an invitation?
Thank you so much—it drove me crazy since we are depending heavily on Drafts whenever it comes to text.
Wondering the same thing myself. I would assume that since we’re all contributing to this thread, we would get notified if that were the case.
I do hope we can get some workaround, either in the official app or beta. I didn’t realize just how much of my Mac workflow relies on Drafts!
Beta programme info is available on the website, but it looks to be closed right now.
The beta builds are released on Testflight so any beta test builds Greg is putting out are released via that channel.
Greg does post out on social media about his development experiences and did post about this one recently.
@agiletortoise, do you know if/when you might open the Testflight for new testers.

Just remember if you are running beta software on your primary device(s) you basically daring the universe to break your workflow. My advice is don’t back yourself into a corner where it can stop you.
For what it’s worth, I am not running any OS betas, but I run plenty of app betas. I can always easily switch back to a non beta on an app if it gets really disruptive. I’ve done that pelnty of times, including for Drafts. I can then go back when things settle.
That isn’t as easy with an OS unless you have spare devices or bootable partitions.
When it comes to beta apps and OSes, I don’t have spar devices or large volumes of unused disk space. I keep myself to general functional testing and regression testing, and I keep my backups regular and my back outs easy.
There are open slots for the beta. Just request to join the Beta User group.
I have a workaround for this bug coming when Apple gets around to approving it. I’ll process the backlog of group requests once that build is available.
I will not be releasing a production build to the App Store to workaround this bug. It’s Apple’s and they should fix it in a subsequent beta release, hopefully.
Submitted report as well .. good luck ..
Submitted mine, too. Amazing how you don’t realise just quite what an indispensable app Drafts is until you can’t get into it.
I’ve filed a report with Apple too.
fortunately, Apple released Beta6 a while ago and… approved the beta version. After upgrading - Drafts works.
My situation is a bit different. After upgrading to Beta 6, Drafts still won’t launch. The behavior is the same as with Beta 5.
You need the recent Drafts beta (see above) – then it will work again. It was the same here. So happy to have Drafts again on my Mac!
To add to the confusion … I am on Drafts 47.2 (not the Beta) running macOS 26 Public Beta 2 on my Studio Mac. I’m experiencing no problems with Drafts. As far as I can tell it works normally.
