FYI drafts for iOS won’t work if my Signia Pure C&G T 7IX hearing aids are connected (unless AirPods are ALSO connected and active; if only the hearing aids are connected, making the iPhone speaker active does not help). There’s no error or anything, just the recording animation without any text being created.
Currently I have to turn off Bluetooth or connect AirPods to use the dictation function in Drafts.
Is this with Drafts custom dictation interface or using Siri dictation with the keyboard? Or both?
I don’t have control over the Siri dictation with the keyboard. That’s a system level feature in the case of the custom dictation Drafts tells iOS to use the best microphone available using Apple APIs. It specifies that Bluetooth microphones are good and should be used if available, but it’s up to the system to determine which microphone to use. I would assume it should fall back to using the built-in iPhone microphone if it doesn’t think the hearing aid microphone is adequate, but I don’t have those to test with.
Yesterday I asked my Dad - who doesn’t use Drafts and doesn’t have AirPods - about dictation with his hearing aids in. He said it worked fine.
So either this is a Drafts problem or a more general one with your hearing aids.
