Is it possible to snooze an item from the inbox to make it reappear on a specified date, or is there some kind of work around? Has anyone suggested this as a requested feature?

Maybe have a look at workspaces? If you find some content distracting or overwhelming, then you can build a filtered listing using that feature and just focus/see what you want.
