Since upgrading to Sequoia and Drafts 45, on my Mac bookmarks stopped working. For each bookmark, connection to the folder is lost, and it can not be fixed. Not even by forgetting the bookmark and adding the folder again. Using “select folder” and adding it again, results in nothing happening, no message received either.
By using iOS it does indeed make the connection to the folder, but the bookmark does not sync to the Mac. It does however, sync deletion of the bookmark.
Not aware of any general issues with Sequoia and bookmarks and/or the current version of Drafts. Just re-tested and was able to create/delete/use them as normal on two Macs with this configuration, so it’s likely something specific to your machine.
What troubleshooting steps have you tried? Something as simple as a reboot might be inorder to see if there’s something temporary going on.
When you say “nothing happens” when you try to select a folder…exactly what kind of “nothing”? You should get a dialog explaining you will be prompted to select a folder, are you getting that, then after clicking OK to it, you should get a system open dialog to select a folder - are you getting the dialog? The open dialog, but the selection doesn’t stick?
My guess is that the OS update corrupted some permissions related to the app if all your bookmarks when wrong. If restart doesn’t fix, my next step would be to delete and reinstall Drafts to see if that flushes any system permissions that might address the issue.
[PS: Bookmarks do not sync, that is not technically possible due to the differences in the file systems and permissions]
HI. I apologize for not coming back sooner. Turns out I did have a permissions issue derived from the upgrade to sequoia. I had yto do a complete reinstall of the operating system, and now everything is working nice!
Thank you for your advice, as it was the first stepping stone to realizing there was a major issue with my computer!

Sorry you had to go through that, but glad it’s sorted!
Unfortunately it seems is was not fixed. Every couple of days I lose my bookmarks and have to uninstall Drafts and reinstall to get access back
Seems to ma like a permissions issue. but have not been able to figure it out.
You have to do a reinstall? You are not able to relink them in Drafts Settings?
Unfortunately not. I do not get any error message but the link fails everytime.
I’m not sure what to say. It does seem like a system-level problem specific to your system, I’m not getting any other reports of similar issues on Sequoia or any other macOS version for that matter.
Have you tried running Disk Utility’s “First Aid” process on your install drive to look for file permissions errors? Might be work a try.
Also, is there anything special about the folders you are linking? Possible some other process or automation also manipulates those folders and somehow alters them in a way that might cause the system to invalidate some permissions?
I’ve had the same issue since upgrading macOS to Sequoia as well. Even after reinstalling Drafts, I always get the message “Unable to access bookmark “test”” in the Action log when I attempt to create new bookmarks, trying with several standard folders on the hard drive. The First Aid process didn’t do anything.
@agiletortoise this is seriously decreasing the value I get from Drafts. Would be thankful for a fix!
Have you updated to macOS 15.1 yet? I’ve see some reports of this bug in the wild, and that it is suppose to be fixed in 15.1. It is, unfortunately, a macOS-level issue, so not in my control.
