Frequently when away from home I have a poor or non-existent internet connection. I backup Drafts to a USB drive attached to my iPad and the backup offers a choice of location. This choice isn’t offered when backing up Actions or Workspaces and I think it should be. I realise backing up Actions and Workspaces will sync to iCloud when a connection is available but I might not have a connection when I need to restore either an Action or a Workspace.
I’m not sure I understand the use-case here. Are you needing to restore often? If so, why?
Backups to iCloud Drive are still done when you are not connected. They won’t sync to your other devices until you are online again, but they are still valid local backup files.
I like to think of backups as something you should not need to think about unless you have some significant issue.
Thank you for responding so quickly. I am not having problems that require restoring backups.
My concern is having a backup which is available only on one device. Although if it is available on one device I could copy to another device with a USB drive which would be a solution.
