My action button on iPhone is set to run shortcut → Create Draft
Since iOS 26, it doesn’t open the app anymore – which I figure is just an iOS bug
“Create Draft” does not open the app, it creates a draft in the background. You could have a two step shortcut that creates a draft and then opens it – but the more logical way to just launch it to a new draft is to use a “Control” instead, and you can assign the Drafts control to use the “New Draft” command.
Ok - but swear to god on the last phone and iOS it absolutely opened the app and had a fresh draft ready
Why would I want a new draft created in the background and not use it? But I can whip up a custom shortcut - or actually yeah the Control option worked great, thanks!
If “Create Draft” used to open the app, that was a bug. There’s are lots of cases where you are running some other process and want to store some result in Drafts and it would be obstrusive to open the app every time. Scheduled automations that log some information, etc.
