Why is my thread title changing?

@DaveEmme.

I think I got your opinion loud and clear.
But be careful if you cite othrs.

@sylumer and @martinpacker are also regulars an we know each other a bit.

Their replies do not actuality ar push back.

On the othe hand I count many users who do not disagree on mt prefixng or marking their thread.

I would really love if more people would share their opinion.

I will think about it. That was one reason for starting this thread.

Cheers
Andreas

I want to add that I did not invent the idea.
I have seen it on many threads from others

like this

On some threads Greg himself used it.

I would argue that the tags system with emojis are better

  • they are not so intrusive
  • they are more visible through the emoji but easy to add
  • they are clickable !!!

By looking through the forum I found that the search therm does not work well with it

@DaveEmme Iā€™m afraid youā€™re in danger of misrepresenting my position - by quoting meā€¦

ā€¦ The reason I asked my question was to encourage standardisation. I think @sylumer was following my line of thinking - though I donā€™t want to put words into his mouth.

And what @Andreas_Haberle is doing here is worthwhile.

(I looked up who was at Level 3, like me, and itā€™s a small number of people who have made sustained positive contributions here. Iā€™m proud to be in their company.)

I looked up who was at Level 3

Since Iā€™m still learning about this Discourse feature: how can you do that?

(I might be ā€œblindā€ because I mainly use Fig to engage in Discourse forums)

I donā€™t know.

Because I am Level 3 I saw some link to who was at the same level. It might be privileged information - but I hope not.

(And I, for one, am not the kind of person to feel superior at Level 3.)

@_rob This lookup is done by the Discourse badges

https://forums.getdrafts.com/badges/3/regular

another way to ā€œevaluateā€ is to look at the users profile page by taping on the avatar two times
you will see a page like this one:

Thanks for that link; I had not figured out that a level is just another badge.

PS: Fig shows the level behind the username in a post

This is optional. I may be bragging about it

Thanks all for your feedback

I hope that I will read more of @DaveEmme and @_rob in this forum.

I leave it to Greg Pierce to give the ā€œverdictā€ on that topic.
But you might have noticed that I undid my title changes.

Yes, sorry to be absent from this topic, it was a busy week.

For now, I think itā€™s best that as a matter of course regular users only change titles or posts they did not originate where it is a valuable clarification (e.g. title did not match the content), or to correct a typo/error.

The intent is very good to help keep things better organized, but a little more than we need here for now and a little confusing, especially for new and infrequent visitors.

Iā€™m not opposed to using tags for some of that status tracking if people find it helpfulā€¦but Iā€™m also not going to publish a style-guide insisting on it.

Thanks Greg.
I think I forgot the view of new users and how they think about a change from another user.

So I will stop changing titles aggressively and use this ā€œsuper powerā€ with the new mindset.
